Naked - the lyrics

You’ve got that pretty life

You let those pretty people follow you ‘round

So where’s your shitty life?

The bits and pieces that you never let out?

'Cause I’m naked

And I’m falling in the dark with you

And I’m shaking

And I couldn’t help but act the fool

You lost your being

You snap up pieces that you drop to the ground

How you pay for what you’re seeing

Those grams of flesh that should be measured in pounds

'Cause I’m naked

And I’m falling in the dark with you

Yeah I’m shaking

And I couldn’t help but act the fool

Take me where you will not let me

Help me past the 'like'

Take me where you will not let me

Help me through the night

Cause I’m naked

And I’m falling in the dark with you

And I’m shaking

And I couldn’t help but act the fool

Cause I’ve never seen the vulnerable side of all the people I admire

Only shown a rose gold view

How you gonna fake it when the voice is saying you can’t make it

I need you to pull while I push through

Cause I’m naked

And I’m falling in the dark with you

And I’m shaking

And I couldn’t help but act the fool

You’ve got

You’ve got that pretty life

Running through your head, running through your head

You’ve got

You’ve got that pretty life

Running through your head, running through your head

You’ve got

You’ve got that pretty life

Running through your head, running through your head

You’ve got

You’ve got that pretty life

Running through your head...

Nothing particularly sexy about this one! Except maybe the groove of the song. That literally came together with Jordo and Daniel smashing drums and bass respectively at BakeHouse studios in Richmond. When a groove fits it becomes easy for a song to come out and that's what happened when Hugh played that first hook line on the guitar. That was actually before Lach joined the band. He's since added his sparkle to guitar parts and Hugh is on keys!

This one is meant to be about vulnerability. A look at what we don't see day to day on a beautiful, successful instagram influencer...sigh

The rest of the song took some time. There's some lyrics over there that we're really proud of. Pete did pretty well on "those grams of flesh that should be measured in pounds" line we thought. A really interesting lyric that hopefully makes you wonder about the value of the human body and the devaluing of our image and the erosion of our self worth that can happen when we post only the best photos of us online... we digress!
